Wind Power

Wind Europe 2019, Bilbao, Spain

Conference & Exhibition Wind Europe 2019, which was held from April 2-4, became the most important event of the year in the field of renewable energy on the continent. Every two years the leading representatives of the wind power market demonstrate their technical achievements, and in 2019 the organizers chose one of the most beautiful cities in Spain - Bilbao, for this purpose. This choice was by no means accidental, for several years Spanish companies have been among the five leading European manufacturers of turbines and their components, and the share of wind power in the production of electricity via renewable sources is about 50%.

Compared to last year, the number of participants increased by 15%, and the number of exhibitors also increased. In 2019, visitors from 80 countries showed interest in the exhibition, with the largest number of visitors coming from Spain, Germany, Great Britain and Denmark. In addition to Europeans, the exhibition also attracts the attention of manufacturers and visitors from the United States.

This year the event was of a more technical nature, with the largest number of exhibitors coming from the “components manufacturer” branch, whereas last year the “consultancy/service provider” group dominated. Also, a large proportion of exhibitors were representatives of the “logistics” and “operation and Maintenance” fields.

The main topics at the conference were offshore technologies, including floating; digitalization of processes, as well as network integration. It is also worth noting that in addition to top managers, CEOs of companies such as Iberdrola, Siemens Gamesa, WindEurope, Vestas Offshore Wind, AccionaEnergia, AEE, etc., acted as speakers.

The exhibition's ambassador was Ignacio Galán, the Chairman of the Spanish company Iberdrola, one of the leading players in the renewable energy market, which operates not only in Europe, but also in Mexico and throughout South America. In 2019 the company is going to put into operation about 4.1 GW of capacity, and by 2022 this figure will reach 12.9 GW.
The next event within Wind Europe will be the Energy Summit, which will be held from April 27-29 in Copenhagen.
