Aenert news. Energy Market & Energy Statistics

According to forecasts published by Eurostat, annual inflation in the euro area is expected to fall slightly to 5.3% in July 2023 from 5.5% in June 2023.

The inflation in the euro area is generated by various components that contribute differently to the final inflation figures.

As can be seen in the chart below, services are the largest component, accounting for about 43.5% of final monetary consumption expenditure, followed by non-energy manufactured goods at about 26.3%.

Food, alcohol, tobacco and energy account for about 30%, i.e. less than a third of expenditure, but they can have a significant impact on core inflation as their prices fluctuate much more than the other components.

The highest annual inflation rate is expected in food, alcohol and tobacco (10.8% vs. 11.6% in June), followed by services (5.6% vs. 5.4% in June), non-energy manufactured goods (5.0% vs. 5.5% in June) and energy (-6.1% vs. -5.6% in June).
