Aenert news. Energy Exhibitions & Conferences
This newsletter covers the major events related to the Batteries market and other energy storage elements scheduled to take place in August 2023. According to a number of researchers, the global battery market is poised for massive development in the current decade, growing at an average annual growth rate of 15-16%. This is despite the fact that today the size of the global battery market exceeds 120 billion US dollars. Leading positions here are firmly established for lithium-ion batteries, but lead-acid batteries also occupy a significant part of the market. Of course, the main driver of this growth is the dynamically expanding electric vehicle market, but solar and wind power, where batteries are increasingly being used for energy storage, are also gaining ground. Asia Pacific is the leading region for both battery production and sales, with a share of well over 50%. As it happens, the majority of August's events dedicated to batteries will take place in this region.

The representative World Battery Industry Expo (WBE-2023) will be held August 8-10 in Guangzhou, China. More than 1,000 exhibitors and more than 80,000 visitors from 80 countries and regions are expected to attend. Compared to WBE-2022, the size of the exhibition has increased significantly especially due to foreign exhibitors, with the number of visiting countries expected to more than double.

The exhibition will present the following technology areas – Battery (Cell & PACK), Energy Storage, BMS Protection Board, Battery Material & Accessory, Battery Equipment, Recycling, Solid-State Battery, Supercapacitor, Battery Swapping & Charging, Hydrogenic Energy and Hydrogen Fuel Cell. Major local and international buyers will be able to view new battery products and accessories for various applications. Among the participants of this grand event will be manufacturers, agencies, dealers, import & export corporates in the fields of batteries, equipment, material, accessory, etc., associated government departments, industry associations, institutes, power and energy storage merchants, colleges and universities, investment and financial institutions, etc.

Another similar exhibition will be held in China from August 23 to 25: the 15th Shanghai International Battery Industry Exhibition-2023. Unlike the Guangzhou exhibition, this event is aimed more at the development of the lithium battery industry in the domestic market. This is undoubtedly due to China's leadership in the global lithium battery manufacturing market. This event is dedicated to maintaining the country’s leading position and further developing the industry. More than 500 exhibitors and more than 35,000 visitors are expected at this exhibition.

Currently, almost all exhibitions and conferences related to the solar energy industry deal with the issues of energy storage, because without addressing this problem the further development of this industry is difficult. On August 17-18, 2023 August in Bangkok, Thailand, will be held the international conference Sustainable Energy and Technology Asia, Solar+Storage Asia 2023. There, energy executives, leaders and policymakers from more than 55 countries will discuss pressing sustainability challenges, including key areas such as Hydrogen, Ammonia and downstream options, Mobility, Solar and Energy Storage, Digital power.

At the end of August, the traditional Intersolar South America-2023 will take place in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

450 exhibitors and more than 50,000 visitors are expected to arrive here. In addition to the classic solar energy topics – Photovoltaics, PV Production Technology, Solar Thermal Technologies, there will be another ees South America – The Conference for Batteries & Energy Storage Systems and Green Hydrogen, covering e-mobility topics powered by Power2Drive South America. The 2023 conference will focus on both energy storage and green hydrogen. Topics such as key innovations in electrochemical energy storage and applications in the emerging Brazilian energy storage market are proposed for consideration. In addition, opportunities for large-scale energy storage projects for the capacity market and ancillary services will be discussed.
