Energy Exhibitions & Conferences

Events calendar. December 2022

Among December's energy events, especially those in Southeast Asia and the Middle East are of particular interest. The Vietnam Wind Power 2022, which will be held in Hanoi on December 1 and 2, is of undoubted interest.

The main organizer of this event is the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), the international trade association for the wind power industry. In recent years, Vietnam has been attracting many foreign investors who are locating their production facilities there, primarily from South Korea and Japan.

The reason why they are interested in this location is quite obvious: A country with a population of more than 100 million people has a huge working potential, significant reserves of minerals and a good geographical location close to the global consumer markets.

However, despite this, Vietnam is experiencing a significant shortage of energy: Its volume of primary consumption significantly exceeds the volume of domestic production. In this regard, the development of wind power in Vietnam seems to be of great relevance, since more than 70% of electricity in the country is generated by fossil fuels, and another 25% is generated by hydroelectric power plants. Due to the climate, there are often power outages. Although Vietnam does not have outstanding wind resources everywhere, in the coastal and southern regions of the country there is enough potential to accommodate wind farms.

The upcoming conference will discuss key issues of onshore and offshore energy development in Vietnam. There are quite a lot of problems to be considered in this matter. The geographical peculiarities of the terrain, where mountainous areas prevail, the large length of the country, heavy seasonal rains turning into destructive typhoons are not particularly favorable.

Among the main themes chosen for the conference are: challenges in financing the offshore wind sector; game changers: storage, hydrogen & floating offshore wind; certification, training, safety and risk management for wind development; offshore supply chain and port infrastructure development; attracting private investment for grid development. The presence of ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from the leading wind energy countries, including the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Kingdom of Denmark, the Federal Republic of Germany and the United Kingdom at the conference will undoubtedly spur investments.

On December 5-8, 2022 the Dubai world trade center will present the next The Big 5 international Building & Construction Show. The show expects 55 000 attendees, 150 participating countries, 2 000 exhibitors, and more than 200 speakers.

Among the professional participants there will be architects, chief technical officers, consultants, contractors, engineers, facility managers who will present their achievements in the field of modern construction. On the other hand, government representatives, investors, planners, project managers, property developers, surveyors will be able to get the most up-to-date information at first hand as well as communicate their plans and concerns. This meets the main motto of the event – "The full construction value chain – from conception to completion". Intelligent buildings and solar products, technologies & services will be presented there for energy applications, which today determine the energy-efficient operation of buildings. A separate division of the event, The Big 5 Solar, will showcase the latest "Bringing solar solutions for construction".

The two conferences and exhibitions SNEC 7th (2022) International Energy Storage Technology, Equipment and Application Conference & Exhibition and SNEC 5th (2022) International Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology, Equipment and Application Conference & Exhibition to be held at the end of December in Shanghai will focus on perhaps the most burning issues of renewable energy related to intermittent power generation, significantly limiting its development. It will cover virtually all modern energy storage technologies, including compressed air energy storage, pumped storage, superconducting magnetic storage, flywheel storage, thermal/cool storage, hydrogen storage and storage technology and equipment for plug-in electric vehicles, various types of batteries (nickel-hydride batteries, lithium batteries, lithium polymer batteries, lead-acid batteries, smart batteries, etc.).  Other practical topics will include Energy Storage Equipment & Materials, Energy Storage Power Station, EPC Project, Energy Storage System Solutions, and Energy Storage Applications.

The topic of the second event is "Hydrogen Energy, Hydrogen Technology, and Hydrogen Society". In addition to the traditional attributes of any modern trade show, there will be an "International Hydrogen Industry Academician Summit" and a "Global Industry Leaders Summit Dialogue". The main exhibits categories are: Hydrogen Production Equipment Technology & Hydrogen Supply, Hydrogen Storage & Transportation Equipment, Fuel Cell Critical Components & Technology, Fuel Cell System & Application and New Energy Vehicles (Passenger Vehicles/Business Vehicles), Charging Facility.
